Which companies sponsor visas for home health nurses in North Carolina?
Bayada Home Health Care, Amedisys, LHC Group, and Kindred at Home are among the more active home health employers in North Carolina with documented histories of sponsoring international nurses. Large health systems like Novant Health and Atrium Health also provide home health services and have sponsored nurses for permanent residence through the EB-3 category. Sponsorship availability varies by location and staffing needs at any given time.
Which visa types are most common for home health nurse roles in North Carolina?
The EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa is the most common pathway for international home health nurses in North Carolina. Employers typically file a PERM labor certification followed by an I-140 immigrant petition. Some nurses also enter on an H-1B if the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, though home health nursing positions more frequently use EB-3. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican RN applicants under USMCA.
How to find home health nurse visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate lists home health nurse roles in North Carolina filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can browse positions without sifting through employers who won't support international candidates. Search for home health nurse roles on Migrate Mate and filter by North Carolina to surface current openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Focus on larger agencies and health system-affiliated home health divisions, as they tend to have established immigration processes.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most home health nurse sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte and the Research Triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill) have the highest concentration of home health nurse sponsorship opportunities in North Carolina, driven by dense population centers and strong health system presence. Greensboro and Winston-Salem in the Triad also generate consistent demand. Rural areas across the state frequently face nurse shortages, which can make employers there more open to sponsoring qualified international candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for home health nurses seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina requires home health nurses to hold an active RN license issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. The state participates in the Nursing Licensure Compact, so nurses licensed in another compact state can practice in North Carolina without obtaining a separate license. International nurses with foreign nursing credentials must pass the NCLEX-RN and meet the Board's education equivalency requirements before an employer can proceed with visa sponsorship paperwork.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored home health nurse jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
