Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare assistants in North Dakota?
Sanford Health, the largest employer in the state, has an established history of sponsoring international workers across its Fargo and Bismarck facilities. CHI St. Alexius Health and Essentia Health are also active sponsors in the region. Smaller critical access hospitals in rural North Dakota occasionally sponsor as well, particularly when local candidate pools are limited for direct care support roles.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare assistant roles in North Dakota?
The H-1B visa applies when a healthcare assistant role requires a specialty degree, but many assistant-level positions may not meet the specialty occupation threshold. The EB-3 immigrant visa category is a more common pathway for direct care and support roles, often facilitated through employer-sponsored permanent residence petitions. Some facilities also hire through the J-1 exchange visitor program for specific training arrangements.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most healthcare assistant sponsorship jobs?
Fargo accounts for the largest share of healthcare assistant openings in North Dakota, driven by Sanford Health's regional headquarters and the presence of Essentia Health. Bismarck is the second most active market, anchored by CHI St. Alexius Health and Sanford's capital-city campus. Grand Forks, home to Altru Health System and the University of North Dakota medical school, also generates consistent hiring activity.
How to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for healthcare assistant roles in North Dakota without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform is built for international candidates and surfaces openings at health systems like Sanford Health and CHI St. Alexius. Filtering by state and role type on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find verified sponsorship opportunities in this field.
Are there state-specific considerations for healthcare assistant visa sponsorship in North Dakota?
North Dakota's shortage of healthcare workers in rural and frontier areas means some employers qualify for Conrad 30 waivers and other state-designated shortage area designations, which can affect J-1 visa holders in clinical roles. The state's Department of Health tracks health professional shortage areas, and facilities in designated zones may have additional incentives to sponsor international candidates. Certification requirements for healthcare assistants, such as the Nurse Aide Registry, must be met regardless of visa status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare assistant jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
