Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare assistants in Oregon?
The largest sponsors of healthcare assistant roles in Oregon are major health systems including OHSU Health, Providence Health and Services, Legacy Health, and PeaceHealth. These organizations operate multiple facilities across the state and have established HR infrastructure for managing H-1B visa and other work visa petitions. Smaller clinics and rural critical access hospitals occasionally sponsor as well, particularly where staffing shortages are acute.
What visa types are most common for healthcare assistant roles in Oregon?
Healthcare assistant roles that require a relevant degree, such as a bachelor's in health sciences, may qualify for H-1B sponsorship as a specialty occupation. Roles with a clinical or research component at institutions like OHSU may also be eligible under the J-1 visa exchange visitor program. EB-3 immigrant visas are another pathway for qualified healthcare workers, often used when employers commit to longer-term permanent sponsorship.
Which cities in Oregon have the most healthcare assistant sponsorship jobs?
Portland concentrates the majority of healthcare assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by OHSU, Providence, and Legacy Health campuses throughout the metro area. Salem, as Oregon's capital and a regional medical hub, and Eugene, home to PeaceHealth and affiliated clinics, are secondary markets with consistent hiring activity. Bend has grown steadily as a healthcare destination, with St. Charles Health System expanding its workforce in Central Oregon.
How to find healthcare assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for healthcare assistant roles in Oregon to see employers actively open to sponsoring work visas. This saves significant time compared to manually screening general job postings, since Migrate Mate surfaces positions where sponsorship is already part of the employer's hiring process.
Are there state-specific considerations for healthcare assistants seeking sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon requires healthcare assistants working in certified nursing facilities to complete state-approved training and register with the Oregon State Registry. International candidates should confirm their credentials meet Oregon Health Authority requirements before or alongside pursuing sponsorship. Oregon's prevailing wage rules under H-1B also apply, and large health systems in the state typically meet those thresholds given the cost of living in the Portland metro area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare assistant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
