Which manufacturing companies in Ohio sponsor F-1 OPT visas?
Several large Ohio manufacturers have consistent track records of hiring F-1 OPT workers, including Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville, Parker Hannifin in Cleveland, Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron, and Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati. Smaller Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive suppliers throughout the state also hire OPT students, particularly for engineering and technical roles.
Which Ohio cities have the most manufacturing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus and its surrounding area, including Marysville and the Honda manufacturing corridor, is one of the strongest markets. Cleveland and Akron anchor the northeast Ohio industrial cluster with aerospace, polymers, and chemicals employers. Toledo draws automotive glass and parts manufacturers, while Dayton has a notable aerospace and defense manufacturing presence tied to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base suppliers.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that most commonly qualify are those requiring a relevant bachelor's or master's degree, including manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, quality assurance engineering, process engineering, supply chain operations, and materials science positions. Production management trainee roles tied to engineering degrees can also qualify. General assembly or technician roles without a degree requirement typically do not meet OPT eligibility criteria.
How do I find manufacturing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by Ohio, F-1 OPT visa type, and the manufacturing industry to see verified sponsorship-eligible job listings from employers who have sponsored international workers before. This is more targeted than a general job search because listings are screened for sponsorship willingness, saving time for students with limited OPT windows.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for F-1 OPT students pursuing manufacturing jobs?
Ohio's manufacturing sector is heavily tied to automotive supply chains, which can make hiring cycles sensitive to production schedules and model-year timelines. F-1 OPT students should account for their OPT start date carefully, since some manufacturers operate on annual hiring cohorts tied to fiscal or model-year calendars. Students in STEM manufacturing fields may also be eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, which significantly expands their available employment window.
