Which companies sponsor visas for NPs in Ohio?
The most active NP visa sponsors in Ohio are large integrated health systems: Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, University Hospitals, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) throughout the state also sponsor NPs with some frequency, particularly in rural and underserved counties where recruiting qualified providers is difficult. Smaller private practices rarely sponsor independently but may work through staffing partners.
Which visa types are most common for NP roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for nurse practitioners in Ohio because NP roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a graduate-level degree. The EB-3 immigrant visa is also used by health systems for long-term recruitment, particularly in medically underserved areas. Some NPs from countries with treaty agreements, such as Canada and Mexico, may qualify under the TN visa category, which lists registered nurses but requires careful role assessment for advanced practice.
Which cities in Ohio have the most NP sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio in NP sponsorship volume, driven by OhioHealth and Nationwide Children's Hospital anchoring a large healthcare employment base. Cleveland follows closely, with Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals operating across dozens of facilities in the metro area. Cincinnati is the third major hub, supported by UC Health and Cincinnati Children's. Smaller markets like Dayton and Toledo have sponsoring employers but with noticeably fewer open roles at any given time.
How to find np visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters NP roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through listings that won't consider work authorization. Search by role and state to see which Ohio health systems are currently hiring NPs who need sponsorship. Pairing that with direct outreach to the recruitment departments of Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, and University Hospitals increases your chances meaningfully.
Are there state-specific factors NPs should know about visa sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio grants NPs a relatively broad scope of practice, which makes NP roles attractive to employers and strengthens the case that these positions require specialized graduate-level training. This supports H-1B specialty occupation classification. Ohio also has numerous Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs), which can make NP candidates eligible for the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program if they are on a J-1 exchange visitor visa and willing to commit to service in an underserved community.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored np jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
