Which companies sponsor visas for service team members in Ohio?
Larger hospitality and food service operators are the most consistent sponsors. Cedar Fair's Cedar Point in Sandusky has historically used J-1 visa exchange visitor programs for seasonal service staff. Major hotel brands with full-service properties in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, including Marriott and Hilton managed hotels, are among the employers with infrastructure to support work visa sponsorship for service roles.
Which visa types are most common for service team member roles in Ohio?
The J-1 exchange visitor visa is the most common pathway for international service team members in Ohio, particularly in seasonal hospitality at large attractions like Cedar Point. The H-2B visa covers temporary nonagricultural workers and applies to seasonal service roles. The H-1B visa is generally not applicable for standard service team member positions, as these roles typically do not require a specialty occupation degree.
Which cities in Ohio have the most service team member sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads due to its size, large convention hotel presence, and growing restaurant industry. Cleveland follows, supported by its sports venues, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tourism, and downtown hotel corridor. Sandusky stands out specifically for seasonal roles tied to Cedar Point. Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine entertainment district and riverfront hotel properties also generate service team member hiring activity.
How to find service team member visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters service team member roles in Ohio by visa sponsorship availability, so you are not sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. Search for service team member jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate to see current openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, and review each listing for the visa types supported before applying.
Are there state-specific considerations for service team member sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Ohio's hospitality industry is heavily seasonal, particularly around Cedar Point and summer tourism in the Lake Erie region, which means many service roles are tied to J-1 or H-2B visa programs with fixed end dates rather than year-round employment. Columbus and Cleveland offer more stable, year-round positions. Employers using H-2B must file with the Department of Labor and are subject to prevailing wage requirements for the specific Ohio county where work is performed.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service team member jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
