Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for technical managers?
Several large Ohio employers have consistent records of sponsoring technical managers through H-1B visa and other work visas. These include Nationwide Insurance and JPMorgan Chase in Columbus, Progressive and Cleveland Clinic in the Cleveland metro, Procter and Gamble in Cincinnati, and Rockwell Automation in Cleveland. Ohio's manufacturing and healthcare sectors also include mid-sized companies with active sponsorship histories, particularly for technical leadership roles overseeing engineering or software teams.
What visa types are most common for technical manager roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical managers in Ohio, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. L-1A visas are also relevant for managers transferring from a foreign affiliate of an Ohio-based employer. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible under the TN visa category if the role fits qualifying occupations.
Which Ohio cities have the most technical manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for technical manager sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of insurance, fintech, and retail technology employers. Cleveland follows closely, with strength in healthcare IT, manufacturing technology, and financial services. Cincinnati's consumer goods and manufacturing base, anchored by companies like Procter and Gamble and Kroger, also generates demand. Dayton has a niche in defense and aerospace technology management tied to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base contractors.
How to find technical manager visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles, including technical manager positions in Ohio. You can filter by state and role to see Ohio-specific openings from employers with documented sponsorship activity. Because technical manager roles often require demonstrating team leadership and specialty occupation status for visa purposes, focusing on employers with established sponsorship programs, which Migrate Mate surfaces, is a practical starting point.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for technical manager visa sponsorship?
Ohio's Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations apply to H-1B petitions filed for technical manager roles, and wages vary meaningfully between Columbus, Cleveland, and smaller metro areas. Ohio's strong university pipeline from Ohio State, Case Western Reserve, and University of Cincinnati produces competition for roles, but also signals that employers in the state are accustomed to hiring international talent. Manufacturing-focused technical manager roles in Ohio may require on-site presence, which affects the petition details employers file.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical manager jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
