Which companies sponsor visas for cloud engineers in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's largest visa sponsors for cloud engineering roles include Devon Energy, ONEOK, BOK Financial, Paycom, and major healthcare systems like Integris Health and SSM Health. Federal contractors operating near Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City also file H-1B petitions for cloud infrastructure positions. Oil and gas companies in particular have expanded cloud and data platform teams, making them consistent sponsors in this state.
Which visa types are most common for cloud engineer roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud engineers in Oklahoma, as cloud engineering consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or computer science roles. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT can work while their employer pursues H-1B sponsorship through the annual lottery.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most cloud engineer sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City accounts for the largest share of cloud engineer sponsorship activity in the state, driven by corporate headquarters in energy, finance, and healthcare. Tulsa is the second-strongest market, with ONEOK, Williams Companies, and BOK Financial all maintaining active technology departments. Norman and Edmond have smaller but emerging tech presences, partly connected to University of Oklahoma research and affiliated startups.
How to find cloud engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters cloud engineer roles specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can browse Oklahoma opportunities without sifting through postings that don't support international candidates. Because Oklahoma's sponsoring employers are concentrated in energy, finance, and healthcare, filtering by those sectors on Migrate Mate surfaces the most relevant listings. Setting up alerts for Oklahoma cloud engineer roles helps you track new openings as they're posted.
Are there any state-specific considerations for cloud engineers pursuing sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's energy sector drives significant demand for cloud engineers with experience in data pipelines, IoT infrastructure, and operational technology integration, so candidates with those specializations tend to attract more employer interest. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University supply engineering graduates who sometimes transition directly into sponsored roles. Prevailing wage determinations for cloud engineers in Oklahoma reflect local cost-of-living levels, which are lower than coastal markets but still governed by DOL wage requirements that employers must meet for H-1B petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
