Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for business development directors?
Portland-based technology companies are the most consistent sponsors for business development director roles in Oregon. Nike, Adidas, and Intel have established immigration programs capable of supporting H-1B and other work visa categories at the director level. Smaller SaaS and enterprise software companies in the Portland metro area also sponsor, though less frequently, and sponsorship decisions are typically made case by case at senior levels.
Which visa types are most common for business development director roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for business development directors in Oregon, classifying the role as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related field such as business administration, marketing, or a technical discipline relevant to the employer's industry. Candidates with multinational employer backgrounds may also be eligible for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa, which applies to managers and executives transferring within the same organization.
Which cities in Oregon have the most business development director sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the large majority of business development director sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its concentration of technology, apparel, and healthcare companies. Hillsboro, home to Intel's largest U.S. campus, is the second most active area, particularly for directors with semiconductor or hardware industry experience. Eugene and Bend have smaller but emerging tech communities, though sponsorship opportunities at the director level there are limited compared to the Portland metro.
How to find business development director visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for business development director roles in Oregon without manually screening each posting. Because sponsorship at the director level is employer-specific and often not advertised explicitly, using a platform built around sponsorship data saves significant time. Migrate Mate surfaces Oregon-based roles from companies with documented sponsorship histories in senior business development functions.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for business development directors in Oregon?
Oregon does not impose state-level visa requirements, but the prevailing wage determination for business development director roles in the Portland metropolitan area is set by the Department of Labor and reflects regional market rates, which employers must meet when filing a Labor Condition Application for H-1B sponsorship. Oregon's tech sector growth has also created pipeline connections with Portland State University and the University of Oregon, where some employers recruit international talent into business development career tracks that may eventually support sponsorship at more senior levels.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development director jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
