Which companies sponsor visas for food service managers in Oregon?
National contract dining operators with Oregon contracts, including Aramark and Compass Group, have the most documented history of sponsoring food service managers. Large hotel groups operating in Portland, Salem, and Bend also sponsor qualified candidates. Institutional employers at Oregon Health and Science University and Oregon State University occasionally hire sponsored managers for campus or hospital dining operations.
Which visa types are most common for food service manager roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is possible for food service manager roles, but only when the position genuinely qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field, which is not straightforward for many frontline management roles. The EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa is a more common pathway for experienced managers. Some candidates also enter through the TN visa if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens and the role meets qualifying criteria.
Which cities in Oregon have the most food service manager sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the majority of food service manager sponsorship activity in Oregon, driven by its large hospitality sector, convention venues, and corporate dining accounts. Eugene sees activity through the University of Oregon and its contracted dining operators. Bend's growing tourism and resort industry has also produced sponsorship-eligible positions, particularly within hotel food and beverage departments.
How to find food service manager visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate lists food service manager roles in Oregon filtered specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search without wading through positions that don't support international candidates. Because sponsorship eligibility for food service manager roles depends heavily on how the employer classifies the position and their existing immigration infrastructure, focusing your search on employers with a documented sponsorship history, as shown on Migrate Mate, is the most practical starting point.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for food service managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B sponsorships, meaning the employer must pay at least the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for food service manager roles in the specific Oregon metro area. Portland-area wages are set at a higher level than rural Oregon, which affects which employers can realistically sponsor. Oregon's strong hospitality industry and year-round tourism in coastal and mountain regions do support steady demand for experienced managers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored food service manager jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
