Which companies sponsor visas for nursing technicians in Oregon?
The largest sponsors of nursing technician roles in Oregon are OHSU, Legacy Health, Providence Health & Services, PeaceHealth, and Samaritan Health Services. These health systems operate multiple hospitals and clinics across the state and have established HR infrastructure for H-1B and other work visa petitions. Smaller rural critical access hospitals occasionally sponsor as well, particularly in underserved regions where recruitment is more competitive.
Which visa types are most common for nursing technician roles in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa for nursing technician roles that require a bachelor's degree in a clinical or health science field. For roles that qualify as specialty occupations, employers file through the standard H-1B cap process. Some internationally trained candidates enter through J-1 exchange visitor programs affiliated with Oregon teaching hospitals. EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship is also used by larger health systems for longer-term hires.
Which cities in Oregon have the most nursing technician sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the largest share of nursing technician sponsorship jobs in Oregon, driven by OHSU's main campus and the concentration of Legacy Health and Providence facilities in the metro area. Salem and Eugene are secondary hubs with growing health system presences. Bend has seen increased healthcare hiring as Central Oregon's population has grown, and rural areas including Medford and Corvallis offer opportunities through regional hospital networks.
How to find nursing technician visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters nursing technician jobs specifically to employers in Oregon that have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from sorting through listings that won't support international candidates. You can search by city, health system, or visa type to identify roles that match your qualifications and immigration situation. Migrate Mate is particularly useful for narrowing down which Oregon employers are actively sponsoring versus those that simply post open roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for nursing technician sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon follows federal prevailing wage requirements for sponsored nursing technician roles, meaning employers must meet Department of Labor wage determinations for the specific occupation and metro area. Oregon's strong union presence in healthcare, particularly in the Portland metro, can affect job structure and hiring timelines. OHSU's status as a public research university also means its sponsored positions often intersect with academic or training program requirements, which can influence eligibility for certain visa categories.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing technician jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
