Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapy assistants in Oregon?
Oregon's largest health systems are the most consistent sponsors for physical therapy assistant roles. OHSU Health, Legacy Health, PeaceHealth, and Adventist Health have all filed for work visas on behalf of allied health staff. Smaller outpatient rehabilitation networks and long-term care chains also sponsor, though their capacity and frequency vary significantly by organization and current staffing needs.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapy assistant roles in Oregon?
H-1B is the most commonly used visa for physical therapy assistants, as PTAs typically hold an associate degree in a specialized field, which can satisfy the specialty occupation requirement depending on the employer's job description and the specific USCIS determination. Some employers also use TN status for Canadian or Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials. EB-3 immigrant visas are another pathway for PTAs willing to pursue permanent residency through employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Oregon have the most physical therapy assistant sponsorship jobs?
Portland is Oregon's primary hiring hub for physical therapy assistants, driven by the concentration of large health systems and specialty rehabilitation clinics in the metro area. Salem and Eugene also offer meaningful volume, particularly through regional hospital networks and outpatient facilities. Bend has seen growing demand as Central Oregon's population expands, making it a secondary market worth monitoring for sponsored PTA positions.
How to find physical therapy assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is specifically built to surface visa sponsorship jobs for international candidates, including physical therapy assistant roles in Oregon. You can filter directly by state and role to see current openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because PTA sponsorship in Oregon is concentrated among larger health systems, focusing on established hospital networks through Migrate Mate's filtered search saves significant time compared to applying broadly.
Are there state-specific considerations for physical therapy assistants seeking sponsorship in Oregon?
Oregon requires PTAs to hold an active license from the Oregon Physical Therapist Licensing Board before practicing. International candidates must ensure their foreign PTA credentials are evaluated and meet Oregon's licensure requirements, which typically means graduating from a CAPTE-accredited program or completing an equivalency process. Employers generally require licensure before or shortly after your start date, so beginning the credentialing process early is essential when pursuing sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapy assistant jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
