Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapy assistants in Kentucky?
Large health systems are the most active sponsors for physical therapy assistant roles in Kentucky. Norton Healthcare and Baptist Health, both headquartered in Louisville, have filed for work visas on behalf of allied health professionals including PTAs. CHI Saint Joseph Health serves central Kentucky and has multi-site PTA needs. Skilled nursing operators and home health chains with Kentucky footprints also appear in Department of Labor filings for PTA positions.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapy assistant roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly used visa for physical therapy assistants in Kentucky, as PTAs holding an associate degree in a specialized field typically qualify as specialty occupation workers. EB-3 immigrant visas are also relevant for PTAs pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship. Some internationally trained PTAs enter on TN visa status if they are Canadian or Mexican nationals and meet USMCA occupational requirements for physical therapists or related allied health roles.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most physical therapy assistant sponsorship jobs?
Louisville is Kentucky's largest healthcare market and the primary source of PTA sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of hospital systems, outpatient rehabilitation networks, and long-term care facilities. Lexington is the second-largest hub, home to University of Kentucky HealthCare and several large outpatient clinic groups. Owensboro, Bowling Green, and Paducah are secondary markets with growing demand as regional hospital systems expand PTA staffing to serve rural and suburban patient populations.
How to find physical therapy assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters physical therapy assistant roles in Kentucky by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Focus your search on Louisville and Lexington first, where PTA demand is highest, then check regional markets like Owensboro and Bowling Green. Filtering by employer type, such as health systems or skilled nursing facilities, can help identify sponsors with an established history of PTA hiring.
What state-specific factors should international PTAs consider when pursuing jobs in Kentucky?
Kentucky requires PTAs to hold a license from the Kentucky Board of Physical Therapy before practicing, which means passing the NPTE-PTA exam and meeting credential verification requirements. International candidates whose education was completed outside the United States should have their credentials evaluated by an approved foreign credential evaluation service before applying. Kentucky's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are set by the Department of Labor and vary by metropolitan statistical area, with Louisville typically carrying higher wage floors than smaller cities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapy assistant jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
