Which companies sponsor visas for quality assurance engineers in Oregon?
Intel is one of the most active sponsors in Oregon, with major operations in Hillsboro that regularly hire QA engineers across hardware and software. Nike, Daimler Trucks North America, Precision Castparts, and a range of Portland-based software companies also have documented sponsorship histories for engineering roles. Semiconductor and advanced manufacturing firms in the Willamette Valley tend to have established immigration processes due to consistent international hiring needs.
Which visa types are most common for quality assurance engineer roles in Oregon?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for quality assurance engineers in Oregon, as QA roles in software, semiconductors, and manufacturing typically meet the specialty occupation requirement with a relevant bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which follows a similar process but without the H-1B lottery. Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA.
Which cities in Oregon have the most quality assurance engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and the surrounding metro area, including Hillsboro and Beaverton, account for the majority of QA engineering sponsorship jobs in Oregon. Hillsboro is particularly significant given Intel's large campus there. Corvallis also sees some activity due to Hewlett Packard Enterprise's presence and proximity to Oregon State University, which produces a steady stream of engineering graduates. Eugene has a smaller but emerging tech sector with occasional sponsorship opportunities.
How to find quality assurance engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters job listings by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for quality assurance engineer roles in Oregon without sifting through postings that won't consider international applicants. Because QA roles in Oregon span semiconductors, software, and manufacturing, using Migrate Mate to filter by industry and location helps narrow results to employers with active sponsorship programs in the state.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for QA engineers in Oregon?
Oregon's concentration of semiconductor manufacturing, particularly in the Hillsboro corridor, means many QA engineering roles fall under industries with established H-1B sponsorship patterns. Oregon State University and Portland State University supply domestic engineering talent, but large firms like Intel regularly hire internationally to meet specialized demand. Employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when sponsoring any H-1B worker, and Oregon's tech-heavy labor market influences how those wage determinations are calculated.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored quality assurance engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
