WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
CertainTeed Roofing is focused on accelerating growth, strengthening our market position, and building a more resilient business for the future. We need a strategic leader who can help turn that ambition into action.
As Director, Strategy & Business Development, you will play a critical role in shaping the long-term direction of our Roofing Products Group. You’ll lead strategic planning and business development efforts, identify new opportunities for growth, guide portfolio and investment decisions, and help translate business priorities into actionable financial and operational plans.
You’ll work across Product Management, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and other key functions to bring together market insights, customer needs, financial analysis, and business priorities. From evaluating new products, adjacent markets, partnerships, and potential acquisitions to helping leadership make complex investment and resource decisions, you’ll provide the insight and structure needed to move our strategy forward.
You’ll also lead the Roofing Products Group Project Management Office, establishing the governance and execution discipline needed to prioritize our most important initiatives, manage risks and resources, and ensure strategic projects deliver meaningful business results.
Beyond formal planning and project leadership, you’ll serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior Roofing leadership—helping navigate complex business challenges, lead high-priority initiatives, and connect long-term strategy with near-term execution. You’ll also provide strategic direction for policy and advocacy priorities to ensure external industry and regulatory developments are considered as part of our broader business strategy.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
You may be a great fit for this role if you are a strategic thinker who also enjoys making things happen. You’re comfortable looking several years ahead while staying connected to what the business needs to accomplish today.
You know how to take complex market, customer, financial, and competitive information and turn it into clear recommendations. You’re comfortable building business cases, evaluating investments and growth opportunities, challenging assumptions, and helping senior leaders make decisions when there isn’t an obvious answer.
You thrive in a highly matrixed organization and know how to lead through influence. You can bring together stakeholders with different priorities, create alignment around a path forward, and keep important initiatives moving even when circumstances change or information is incomplete. The role requires someone who can navigate ambiguity, balance competing priorities, and simultaneously oversee multiple strategic initiatives.
You’ll bring a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, Strategy, or a related field, along with 7+ years of progressive experience in areas such as strategy, business development, M&A, corporate planning, product management, consulting, finance, marketing, or another related business leadership function. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
You’ll be especially successful if you bring strength in strategic planning, business development, financial modeling and investment analysis, portfolio strategy, project/program management, executive communication, change leadership, data-driven problem solving, and cross-functional stakeholder management. Familiarity with government affairs or policy considerations is also valuable, and a PMP or equivalent project/program management credential is preferred.
Most importantly, you’re someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution—seeing the big picture, identifying where we should go next, and helping the organization turn those ideas into measurable results.

Which companies sponsor visas for business development managers in Pennsylvania?
Comcast and its NBCUniversal division in Philadelphia, Merck and GSK in the Philadelphia suburbs, and PNC Financial Services in Pittsburgh have all sponsored international business development professionals. Technology companies including SAP and Siemens with Pennsylvania operations also appear in Department of Labor LCA filings for business development and strategic accounts roles. Sponsorship frequency varies by business unit and hiring cycle.
Which visa types are most common for business development manager roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for business development managers in Pennsylvania, provided the role is structured as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business, marketing, or finance. Candidates already holding L-1B or O-1B status through multinational employers or demonstrating extraordinary ability represent smaller but active pathways into Pennsylvania's commercial sector.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most business development manager sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia generates the highest volume of business development manager sponsorship activity, driven by its pharma corridor, financial services concentration, and growing technology sector. Pittsburgh follows, anchored by PNC, Highmark, and an expanding tech and healthcare ecosystem. Allentown and the Lehigh Valley host manufacturing and logistics employers who periodically sponsor international business development talent for regional accounts coverage.
How to find business development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for business development manager roles with visa sponsorship in Pennsylvania, so you're not sorting through listings that don't apply to international candidates. The platform surfaces employers actively willing to sponsor, which is particularly useful in Pennsylvania's varied market, where sponsorship availability differs significantly between the Philadelphia pharma corridor, Pittsburgh's finance sector, and mid-state enterprise employers.
Are there state-specific considerations for business development managers seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania's sponsoring employers must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements tied to the Philadelphia or Pittsburgh metropolitan statistical areas, which directly affects how roles are classified and structured. The state's strong university pipeline from Wharton, Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School, and Penn State means employers are accustomed to international talent, though competition for sponsored roles in commercial functions remains meaningful, particularly in pharma and financial services.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
