Which companies sponsor visas for certified medical assistants in Pennsylvania?
Large integrated health systems are the most active sponsors in Pennsylvania. UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Temple Health, and Geisinger have all filed for work visas on behalf of clinical support staff including certified medical assistants. Smaller multispecialty physician groups and federally qualified health centers also sponsor occasionally, particularly in underserved areas where candidate pipelines are thinner.
Which visa types are most common for certified medical assistant roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for certified medical assistants, though the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, which can be difficult to establish for CMA positions. Some candidates come through the J-1 visa exchange visitor program via clinical training arrangements. EB-3 immigrant visas are another pathway used by health systems for permanent sponsorship of clinical support staff.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most certified medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh generate the most certified medical assistant sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, driven by their dense concentrations of academic medical centers and hospital networks. Harrisburg, Allentown, and Reading also see consistent hiring through regional health systems like Penn State Health and Tower Health. Rural areas served by Geisinger tend to have openings as well, particularly in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
How to find certified medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search certified medical assistant roles in Pennsylvania without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Filtering by location and role on Migrate Mate surfaces openings at Pennsylvania health systems and clinics that have a documented history of sponsoring international clinical staff, saving significant time in the application process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for certified medical assistants seeking sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania does not require a state license to practice as a certified medical assistant, but employers typically require national certification through AAMA or NCCT. Health systems in the state tend to prioritize candidates with clinical certifications when evaluating sponsorship. Pennsylvania's large network of medical schools and teaching hospitals also means employer familiarity with international credentialing processes is generally higher than in states with smaller healthcare footprints.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored certified medical assistant jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
