Which companies sponsor visas for customer engineers in Pennsylvania?
Several large employers in Pennsylvania have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship for customer engineer roles. Siemens, SAP America, IBM, Oracle, and Salesforce maintain offices in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and have filed LCAs for customer-facing technical positions. Healthcare IT firms tied to UPMC and Penn Medicine also hire customer engineers, particularly for clinical software implementation roles.
Which visa types are most common for customer engineer roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for customer engineers in Pennsylvania, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN status under the USMCA, provided the role aligns with qualifying TN occupation categories.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most customer engineer sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia generates the highest volume of customer engineer sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, driven by its concentration of enterprise software firms, financial services technology companies, and healthcare IT organizations. Pittsburgh is increasingly active, particularly in cloud infrastructure and AI-adjacent roles tied to Carnegie Mellon University's tech ecosystem. Smaller clusters exist in King of Prussia and Malvern, where several pharmaceutical and life sciences technology firms are headquartered.
How to find customer engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for customer engineer roles in Pennsylvania without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to surface employers actively hiring and willing to sponsor. This is particularly useful for targeting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, where sponsorship activity is most concentrated for technical customer-facing roles.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific factors that affect customer engineer sponsorship?
Pennsylvania's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage benchmarks that employers must meet when filing an LCA for H-1B sponsored customer engineers. The Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metro areas have distinct prevailing wage levels, so the same role title can carry different wage requirements depending on worksite location. Pennsylvania's strong university pipeline through Carnegie Mellon, Penn, and Drexel also means many employers are familiar with OPT and STEM OPT transitions for early-career customer engineers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored customer engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
