Which companies in Pennsylvania sponsor visas for human resources assistant roles?
Large healthcare systems, universities, and financial institutions account for most HR assistant sponsorships in Pennsylvania. Organizations like UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, the University of Pennsylvania, and Carnegie Mellon University have HR departments large enough to support international hires. Major corporations headquartered or with significant operations in Pennsylvania, including Comcast, Aramark, and Lincoln Financial Group, have also sponsored HR support staff.
What visa types are most commonly used for human resources assistant positions in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for HR assistant roles, but it requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field must be a genuine requirement. Some candidates also enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions following graduation from Pennsylvania universities. The H-1B1 visa applies only to Chilean and Singaporean nationals.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most human resources assistant sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia generates the most HR assistant sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of health systems, universities, insurance firms, and corporate headquarters. Pittsburgh is the second-largest market, with UPMC, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Pittsburgh all maintaining large HR functions. The Harrisburg area, as the state capital, offers public-sector and government-adjacent HR roles, though federal agencies rarely sponsor visas directly.
How to find human resources assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify HR assistant openings in Pennsylvania without manually reviewing each employer's immigration history. You can search by state and role to surface positions at organizations in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and surrounding areas that have a documented history of sponsoring HR staff. This saves significant time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for HR assistants pursuing visa sponsorship?
Pennsylvania's university pipeline is a meaningful factor. Graduates from Penn State, Drexel, Temple, and other large in-state universities who hold OPT authorization are already in the local hiring pool, making employers more familiar with the sponsorship process. HR roles at nonprofits, universities, and cap-exempt organizations may offer an alternative path to H-1B status outside the annual lottery, since those employers are not subject to the regular cap.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored human resources assistant jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
