Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for human resources assistant roles?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for HR support roles include automotive manufacturers like General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, healthcare systems such as Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health, and major universities including the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Large corporations with established HR departments and global workforces are generally the most active sponsors, as they have dedicated immigration counsel and structured hiring pipelines for international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for human resources assistant jobs in Michigan?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for human resources assistant positions, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and the employer can demonstrate that requirement. Some candidates also enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions following graduation from Michigan universities. TN visa status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose HR role qualifies under the USMCA professional categories.
Which cities in Michigan have the most human resources assistant sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its metro suburbs, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Southfield, concentrate the largest share of HR assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by automotive headquarters and large healthcare networks. Ann Arbor offers openings tied to the University of Michigan and its affiliated medical system. Grand Rapids is a secondary market with growing HR hiring across healthcare, manufacturing, and professional services firms headquartered in western Michigan.
How to find human resources assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by state and job role to see human resources assistant positions in Michigan where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship. Rather than sifting through general postings and guessing at sponsorship willingness, Migrate Mate surfaces roles from companies that have actively sponsored work visas, saving significant time for international candidates navigating the Michigan HR job market.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for human resources assistant visa sponsorship?
Michigan's heavy concentration in automotive and healthcare industries shapes sponsorship patterns for HR assistants. Automotive employers often sponsor through centralized HR departments with established immigration processes, while healthcare systems may have varying sponsorship capacity depending on size. Candidates from Michigan's university programs, particularly those completing HR or business degrees at the University of Michigan or Michigan State University, sometimes leverage institutional connections to employers already familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored human resources assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
