Which companies sponsor visas for project assistants in Pennsylvania?
Large healthcare systems including UPMC and Penn Medicine, research universities such as the University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Mellon, and consulting firms with Pennsylvania offices have historically filed for project assistant roles under sponsored visa programs. Government contractors and pharmaceutical companies in the Philadelphia suburbs, including those in the Route 202 corridor, also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for sponsored positions in this category.
Which visa types are most common for project assistant roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project assistant roles where the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business administration, information systems, or engineering. Some university-affiliated project assistant positions may also qualify under J-1 or F-1 OPT. Whether a specific project assistant role qualifies as a specialty occupation depends on the employer's job description and degree requirements, so employer documentation is important.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most project assistant sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia accounts for the largest share of project assistant sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, driven by its concentration of hospitals, universities, consulting firms, and corporate headquarters. Pittsburgh is a strong secondary market, particularly in healthcare, higher education, and technology. Smaller markets like Harrisburg, Allentown, and State College see more limited sponsorship volume but do have activity tied to government contractors and Penn State University.
How to find project assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it straightforward to search for project assistant roles in Pennsylvania without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location, so Philadelphia and Pittsburgh listings are easy to isolate. Because Migrate Mate focuses on international candidates, the listings reflect employers who have actively indicated sponsorship willingness for roles in this category.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for project assistants in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania's strong presence in healthcare, higher education, and life sciences creates above-average demand for project coordination roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship. Employers in these sectors are generally familiar with the sponsorship process. Project assistant roles tied to federally funded research at Pennsylvania universities may also have structured pathways for international hires. The prevailing wage requirement applies statewide, and wage levels vary by metropolitan area, with Philadelphia typically carrying higher wage obligations than smaller markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project assistant jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
