Which companies sponsor visas for business managers in Puerto Rico?
Pharmaceutical and life sciences companies with major Puerto Rico operations, including AbbVie, Johnson & Johnson, Amgen, and Bristol Myers Squibb, regularly sponsor business managers through the H-1B visa. Large financial institutions, hotel groups such as Marriott and Hilton operating in San Juan, and federal contractors also have established sponsorship histories for management roles requiring specialized business expertise.
Which visa types are most common for business manager roles in Puerto Rico?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for business managers in Puerto Rico, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like business administration, finance, or management. The L-1A intracompany transferee visa is also common for managers relocating from a foreign affiliate or parent company to a Puerto Rico office, and does not require going through the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most business manager sponsorship jobs?
San Juan and its surrounding metropolitan area, including Guaynabo and Bayamon, account for the overwhelming majority of business manager sponsorship opportunities in Puerto Rico. This reflects the concentration of corporate headquarters, pharmaceutical plant administration offices, financial services firms, and large hotel operations in the capital region. Humacao and Manati have some pharmaceutical sector management roles as well.
How to find business manager visa sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search. You can filter by role and location to surface business manager positions in Puerto Rico where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability. Because Puerto Rico sits within a niche market combining pharmaceutical, hospitality, and financial services employers, using a dedicated sponsorship-focused platform like Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to filtering through general job postings.
Are there state-specific considerations for business manager sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, so federal immigration rules apply exactly as they do on the mainland, including H-1B prevailing wage requirements determined by the Department of Labor for the San Juan metropolitan area. Employers must meet the same LCA obligations and wage level requirements. The island's pharmaceutical industry concentration means many sponsoring employers are large multinationals with experienced HR and immigration teams familiar with the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business manager jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
