Which companies sponsor visas for business operations roles in Puerto Rico?
Multinationals with established Puerto Rico operations are the most common sponsors. Companies like Popular Inc., Evertec, Triple-S Management, and pharmaceutical manufacturers such as Johnson & Johnson and AbbVie have sponsored work visas for operations roles. Large employers in financial services, life sciences, and management consulting tend to have HR infrastructure in place to support the H-1B petition process.
Which visa types are most common for business operations roles in Puerto Rico?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for business operations professionals in Puerto Rico, covering roles like operations analyst, business process manager, and management consultant when the position requires a relevant bachelor's degree. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status under the USMCA if the role fits a covered profession. Australian citizens may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which also requires a specialty occupation.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most business operations sponsorship jobs?
San Juan accounts for the largest share of business operations sponsorship activity on the island, particularly in the Hato Rey financial district. Guaynabo and Bayamon host corporate campuses for several multinationals, especially in pharmaceutical manufacturing and professional services. Caguas has a smaller but growing presence in shared services and back-office operations tied to healthcare and insurance companies.
How to find business operations visa sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse business operations roles in Puerto Rico without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Focus your search on employers in financial services, pharmaceuticals, and professional services, as those sectors in Puerto Rico have the strongest track record of sponsoring H-1B petitions for operations professionals. Filtering by location and role type on Migrate Mate narrows results quickly.
Are there any Puerto Rico-specific considerations for business operations visa sponsorship?
Puerto Rico follows federal immigration law, so H-1B sponsorship requirements are identical to the mainland. One practical consideration is that the Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations for Puerto Rico may reflect local market rates, which differ from major mainland metros. Operations professionals should confirm that any offer meets the certified wage on the Labor Condition Application. The island's concentration in pharma and finance means sponsoring employers often have established immigration counsel on retainer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business operations jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
