Which construction companies sponsor E-3 visas in Puerto Rico?
Large general contractors and program managers with active federal recovery and infrastructure contracts in Puerto Rico have the strongest E-3 filing history. Firms working on FEMA-funded rebuilding programs, highway projects, and hospital construction have filed labor condition applications for specialty roles. You can verify an employer's LCA filing history directly through the OFLC's public disclosure data before applying.
Which cities in Puerto Rico have the most construction E-3 sponsorship jobs?
San Juan concentrates the highest volume of construction E-3 roles, driven by commercial development, hospital infrastructure projects, and federal agency contracts. Ponce and BayamĂłn also see steady activity tied to highway reconstruction and industrial facilities. Caguas and Guaynabo have drawn contractor presence from utility and energy infrastructure work funded through federal disaster recovery allocations.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship in construction is limited to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Qualifying roles typically include civil and structural engineers, project managers with engineering or construction management degrees, cost estimators, and quality assurance managers. Trades-based positions that don't require a relevant bachelor's degree generally don't meet the specialty occupation threshold under USCIS guidelines.
How do I find construction E-3 sponsorship jobs in Puerto Rico?
Migrate Mate lists construction roles with verified E-3 sponsorship history in Puerto Rico, filtered by employers who have previously filed labor condition applications for specialty occupation positions. Search by industry and location to surface active openings from contractors and engineering firms operating across the island. Confirming an employer's prior LCA filings before applying helps focus your search on companies already familiar with the E-3 process.
Are there any Puerto Rico-specific considerations for E-3 construction sponsorship?
Puerto Rico operates under U.S. federal immigration law, so E-3 requirements are identical to the mainland. However, the island's construction activity is heavily tied to federal disaster recovery funding, meaning project timelines and hiring cycles can shift with federal appropriations. Australian professionals should also confirm that their employer's Puerto Rico entity is a U.S. legal entity registered to file LCAs with DOL, as some island-based subsidiaries have distinct corporate structures.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 construction jobs in Puerto Rico?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
