The Department of Teacher Education at the University of South Carolina seeks applications for a 9-month professional track position in STEM Education at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor anticipated to begin August 2027.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the successful candidate include:
- teaching graduate and undergraduate coursework in one or more of mathematics education, science education, and STEM education;
- delivering K – 12 transdisciplinary STEM and/or project-based education content and pedagogy; and
- supporting the service needs of the Ed.D. in Educational Practice and Innovation with a concentration in STEM Education program, the Department of Teacher Education, and the College of Education.
Required Education and Experience
Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Mathematics Education, Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, STEM Education, or a related field.
Candidates must also have:
- excellent teaching skills;
- the ability to mentor doctoral students;
- evidence of a continued record of professional development which may include scholarly productivity;
- experience with online teaching/learning platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Zoom);
- three years of experience working with P–12 students and/or teacher education candidates in schools;
- the ability to incorporate innovative pedagogies around school and community based learning; and
- the ability to collaborate with a wide range of colleagues and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students is also preferred.
