Which manufacturing companies in South Carolina sponsor visas?
BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg is one of the largest sponsors, along with Boeing in Charleston for aerospace roles. Other active sponsors include Michelin, Volvo Cars, AGCO Corporation, and Haier Appliances. Chemical companies like DuPont and INEOS also regularly sponsor engineers and technical specialists. These employers primarily use H-1B visas for professional roles and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican engineers.
What visa types are most common for manufacturing jobs in South Carolina?
H-1B visas dominate for engineering positions, quality assurance roles, and technical management. TN visas are common for Canadian and Mexican engineers in automotive and aerospace. E-3 visas work well for Australian engineers at companies like BMW and Boeing. Some specialized roles may qualify for O-1 visas, particularly in advanced manufacturing or research and development positions within the aerospace sector.
How to find manufacturing visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international candidates with South Carolina manufacturing employers who sponsor visas. Focus your search on the Greenville-Spartanburg corridor for automotive roles, Charleston for aerospace positions, and the I-85 corridor for general manufacturing. Target companies with established sponsorship histories like BMW, Boeing, and major suppliers in their ecosystems for the best opportunities.
Which South Carolina cities have the most manufacturing visa sponsorship jobs?
Spartanburg leads with BMW and its extensive supplier network, followed by Charleston with Boeing's aerospace operations and port-related manufacturing. Greenville offers diverse opportunities across automotive, textiles, and machinery. Rock Hill attracts manufacturers near Charlotte, while Anderson and Florence provide additional hubs. The I-85 and I-26 corridors concentrate the highest number of sponsoring employers.
Are there special considerations for manufacturing visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's prevailing wages for manufacturing roles are generally lower than coastal states, which can benefit visa applications. The state's technical college system creates strong partnerships with manufacturers for training programs. Many employers prefer candidates with experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or automotive quality standards. German automotive influence means some employers value European manufacturing experience and language skills.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored manufacturing jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
