Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapy assistants in South Carolina?
Healthcare employers with established immigration programs are the most likely sponsors. In South Carolina, that includes large health systems like Prisma Health, MUSC Health, and AnMed Health, as well as national rehabilitation chains operating in the state. Long-term care facilities and outpatient therapy groups also hire PTAs with sponsorship, though their immigration infrastructure varies significantly by organization size.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapy assistant roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B visa is the most common work visa for PTAs in South Carolina, as the role typically meets specialty occupation requirements given the required associate degree in a specific field. Some employers also use the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway for longer-term hires. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. Eligibility depends on the employer's willingness to sponsor and the specific job classification they use.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most physical therapy assistant sponsorship jobs?
Columbia and Charleston generate the highest volume of PTA job postings in South Carolina, driven by major hospital systems and outpatient clinic networks. Greenville and Spartanburg in the Upstate region also show consistent demand, supported by growth in Bon Secours and AnMed Health facilities. Coastal areas like Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head see seasonal and retirement-driven demand for rehabilitation services.
How to find physical therapy assistant visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search, letting you filter physical therapy assistant roles in South Carolina by visa sponsorship availability. Rather than sifting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have a history of sponsoring international candidates. For PTA roles in South Carolina, focusing on larger health systems and multi-site rehabilitation groups tends to yield the most sponsorship-open listings.
Are there any state-specific considerations for PTAs seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina requires PTAs to hold a license from the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, which means passing the NPTE and meeting credential evaluation requirements before practicing. International candidates should factor licensing timelines into their job search, as many employers require an active or pending South Carolina license before finalizing a visa sponsorship offer. Credential evaluation services can help assess foreign education equivalency early in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapy assistant jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
