Which companies sponsor visas for software engineering managers in South Carolina?
Established employers with engineering operations in South Carolina include Blackbaud, Michelin North America, Bosch, SCANA (now Dominion Energy), and Benefitfocus. Larger enterprise technology teams at these companies have filed H-1B petitions for senior engineering roles. Defense and manufacturing contractors in the Greenville and Charleston corridors also periodically sponsor software engineering managers, particularly for roles managing embedded systems or enterprise platforms.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software engineering managers in South Carolina. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the requirement for at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1A status with multinational employers that have South Carolina operations, such as Michelin or Bosch, may also transfer into manager-level roles without entering the H-1B lottery.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can search software engineering manager roles in South Carolina without manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from companies with a documented history of sponsoring international candidates in this role category, which is especially useful in a mid-sized market like South Carolina where sponsoring employers are concentrated in specific cities and industries.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Greenville and Spartanburg together form the state's strongest corridor for engineering management roles, driven by the density of manufacturing and automotive technology firms. Columbia has a growing base in financial technology and government IT contracting. Charleston is emerging as a secondary hub, with defense technology and logistics software companies expanding engineering teams there. Greenville consistently sees the highest volume of senior engineering postings with sponsorship attached.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software engineering managers pursuing visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's engineering hiring is heavily tied to its manufacturing and automotive supply chain sectors, which means software engineering manager roles often involve managing teams building embedded, operational, or industrial software rather than consumer products. Prevailing wage requirements still apply under H-1B rules, and the DOL determines wage levels based on the Columbia or Greenville metropolitan statistical areas, which differ from coastal or major metro benchmarks. Candidates affiliated with Clemson University or University of South Carolina may find pathways through research commercialization or university-affiliated employer networks.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
