Which companies sponsor visas for bookkeepers in Tennessee?
Large Tennessee employers with established HR and legal infrastructure are the most consistent sponsors. Healthcare organizations like HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, logistics firms operating out of Memphis, and national accounting networks with Tennessee offices have historically filed H-1B visa petitions for accounting and bookkeeping roles. Smaller local firms sponsor far less frequently due to the administrative costs involved in the petition process.
Which visa types are most common for bookkeeper roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for bookkeepers in Tennessee, though it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field is typically expected. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying accounting roles. The O-1 visa is rarely applicable unless the candidate has exceptional recognition in their field.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most bookkeeper sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for bookkeeper sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of healthcare corporations, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters. Memphis is significant for logistics and distribution companies that maintain large accounting teams. Knoxville and Chattanooga have smaller but active markets, particularly tied to manufacturing, engineering firms, and regional hospital networks that employ bookkeeping staff.
How to find bookkeeper visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status and state, making it straightforward to browse bookkeeper roles in Tennessee without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role type and location to surface employers actively hiring internationally. Given that sponsoring employers in Tennessee tend to cluster in healthcare, logistics, and corporate services, filtering by those industries on Migrate Mate can improve results.
Are there state-specific considerations for bookkeepers seeking visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects prevailing wage calculations used in H-1B Labor Condition Applications filed by Tennessee employers. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wages by metropolitan area, so Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville each have distinct benchmarks. Employers must certify they're paying at least the prevailing wage for the specific location. Candidates with a CPA credential or progress toward one are generally stronger sponsorship candidates in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored bookkeeper jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
