Which companies in Tennessee sponsor visas for cybersecurity engineers?
Employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for cybersecurity roles in Tennessee include HCA Healthcare, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, FedEx, and regional defense contractors operating near the Oak Ridge corridor. Large financial institutions and healthcare technology firms headquartered in Nashville also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for cybersecurity-related job titles.
Which visa types are most common for cybersecurity engineer roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cybersecurity engineers in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa category. Those with extraordinary ability or significant research backgrounds may explore O-1 visa or EB-1 pathways, though these are less common.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most cybersecurity engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for cybersecurity engineer sponsorship activity, driven by its large healthcare IT and fintech employer base. Knoxville sees demand from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and University of Tennessee-affiliated research programs. Memphis has opportunities through FedEx's technology operations and regional financial services firms. Smaller markets like Chattanooga, which has invested heavily in smart grid and municipal broadband infrastructure, also generate cybersecurity hiring.
How to find cybersecurity engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can search for cybersecurity engineer roles in Tennessee without manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from Tennessee-based employers in healthcare IT, defense, and financial technology, which are the sectors most actively filing LCAs for this role. Filtering by state gives you a targeted list relevant to Tennessee's specific hiring market.
Are there any Tennessee-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for cybersecurity engineers?
Tennessee's concentration of healthcare and defense employers shapes the sponsorship market for cybersecurity engineers in meaningful ways. Defense contractors near Oak Ridge may require security clearances, which can complicate or limit sponsorship for non-citizens depending on clearance eligibility. The University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University also supply a pipeline of graduates into local cybersecurity roles, which means competition for sponsored positions can be significant in Knoxville and Nashville.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cybersecurity engineer jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
