Which companies sponsor visas for cybersecurity engineers in Wisconsin?
Northwestern Mutual, Epic Systems, Fiserv, Advocate Aurora Health, and American Family Insurance are among the Wisconsin employers with track records of H-1B sponsorship for technical roles, including cybersecurity. Large financial services firms and healthcare technology companies in the state tend to have established HR processes for sponsoring engineers, making them more approachable than smaller regional employers.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most cybersecurity engineer sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of cybersecurity engineer sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's concentration of financial services and insurance headquarters drives demand, while Madison benefits from proximity to the University of Wisconsin and a growing technology sector. Appleton and the broader Fox Valley region also see activity, primarily through healthcare and manufacturing employers with security engineering needs.
Which visa types are most common for cybersecurity engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cybersecurity engineers in Wisconsin, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information security, or a related field. Some candidates also enter on OPT or STEM OPT extensions before transitioning to H-1B. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying computer-related occupations.
How to find cybersecurity engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, so you can search cybersecurity engineer roles in Wisconsin without sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from companies like Northwestern Mutual and Epic Systems that have sponsored technical visas before. Filtering by Wisconsin and the cybersecurity engineer category narrows results to roles where sponsorship is a realistic expectation.
Are there state-specific considerations for cybersecurity engineers seeking visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not have state-level visa programs, but the University of Wisconsin system serves as a meaningful pipeline for cybersecurity talent, and several large employers actively recruit from its graduate programs. Employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Milwaukee and Madison metropolitan areas, which are set at the regional level and affect how employers structure compensation for sponsored cybersecurity roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cybersecurity engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
