Which companies sponsor visas for physical therapy assistants in Tennessee?
Healthcare employers with large rehab departments are the most active sponsors for physical therapy assistants in Tennessee. HCA Healthcare, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Encompass Health, and Kindred Healthcare have histories of sponsoring clinical allied health roles. Outpatient rehab chains and long-term care facilities in the state also sponsor PTAs, though sponsorship availability varies by location and current staffing needs.
Which visa types are most common for physical therapy assistant roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly used category for physical therapy assistants in Tennessee, as PTAs with an associate degree and a licensed specialty may qualify as a specialty occupation. Some employers also use the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway for permanent sponsorship of allied health workers. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying therapy roles under the USMCA.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most physical therapy assistant sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads in PTA sponsorship opportunities due to its concentration of hospital systems, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation centers, including those affiliated with HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt. Memphis is a secondary hub with demand driven by Regional One Health and Baptist Memorial Health Care. Knoxville and Chattanooga also have active hiring markets through Covenant Health and CHI Memorial, respectively.
How to find physical therapy assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers looking for visa sponsorship roles, including physical therapy assistant positions in Tennessee. You can filter by state and role to see employers actively open to sponsorship. Because PTA sponsorship requires both a willing employer and active state licensure through the Tennessee State Board of Physical Therapy, pairing a Migrate Mate job search with credential verification preparation is a practical approach.
Are there state-specific considerations for physical therapy assistants seeking sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee requires PTAs to hold an active state license issued by the Tennessee State Board of Physical Therapy before practicing, which means visa sponsorship timelines must account for the credentialing and licensure process. Foreign-trained PTAs typically need FSBPT credential evaluation. Tennessee does not have a separate state prevailing wage standard, so H-1B visa sponsors must comply with Department of Labor federal prevailing wage requirements for the specific metro area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physical therapy assistant jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
