Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in Tennessee?
Healthcare technology firms are among the most active sponsors, with HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare historically filing H-1B visa petitions for QA roles in Nashville. Large manufacturers like Nissan North America and Volkswagen have also sponsored QA engineers at their Tennessee facilities. Enterprise software companies and defense contractors near Huntsville's spillover market and Oak Ridge's research corridor round out the sponsorship picture.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa for QA engineers in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension can work for Tennessee employers before H-1B sponsorship begins. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Nashville accounts for the largest share of QA engineer visa sponsorship activity in Tennessee, driven by its concentration of healthcare IT and SaaS companies. Memphis sees sponsorship through logistics technology firms and FedEx's technology division. Chattanooga has attracted manufacturing and automotive tech employers. Knoxville, home to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a University of Tennessee talent pipeline, also generates QA engineering opportunities with sponsorship.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters QA engineer jobs specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sifting through listings that won't consider international candidates. Search the Tennessee QA engineer category on Migrate Mate to see active roles from healthcare IT, manufacturing, and logistics employers across Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville. Setting up alerts for new Tennessee postings helps you apply early, which matters given that many H-1B-dependent roles close quickly.
Are there any state-specific considerations for QA engineers seeking sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects prevailing wage comparisons when employers file Labor Condition Applications with the Department of Labor. The DOL sets prevailing wages by metropolitan area, so Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville each have distinct wage levels that employers must meet. Tennessee's strong university pipeline from Vanderbilt, UT Knoxville, and Tennessee Tech also means QA engineering roles in the state attract competitive international applicant pools.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
