Which companies sponsor visas for accounting associates in Texas?
The Big Four firms, EY, Deloitte, KPMG, and PwC, have significant Texas offices and documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for accounting roles. Beyond public accounting, large corporations headquartered in Texas, including AT&T, American Airlines, and ConocoPhillips, also sponsor accounting associates. Regional firms with Houston and Dallas offices are a secondary source of sponsorship, though at lower volumes than national firms.
Which visa types are most common for accounting associate roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accounting associates in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Some candidates transition from F-1 OPT or STEM OPT if their degree qualifies. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals working as accountants, provided the role meets TN occupation requirements.
Which cities in Texas have the most accounting associate sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas for accounting associate sponsorship activity, partly due to its concentration of corporate headquarters and major public accounting offices. Houston ranks second, driven by the energy sector and a large financial services presence. Austin is growing quickly as technology companies expand their finance and accounting teams there. San Antonio has a smaller but active market, particularly within healthcare and government contracting.
How to find accounting associate visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search accounting associate roles in Texas without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from employers with active sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful in a large state like Texas where employer practices vary widely by city and industry sector.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for accounting associate visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects compensation structures and prevailing wage calculations that employers must meet for H-1B filings. The state's energy sector in Houston creates demand for accounting associates with exposure to oil and gas reporting standards, a niche that can strengthen a sponsorship case. Several Texas universities, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, have strong pipelines into firms that sponsor accounting talent.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting associate jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
