Which finance companies sponsor H-1B visas in Texas?
Several large financial institutions with major Texas operations have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Fidelity Investments, American Airlines Federal Credit Union, and Charles Schwab, which is headquartered in Westlake. Insurance and fintech firms such as USAA (San Antonio) and Dell Financial Services also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for finance-related H-1B filings.
Which cities in Texas have the most finance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads the state for finance H-1B activity, with a dense concentration of banks, insurance companies, and financial technology firms. Houston follows closely, driven by energy finance, investment banking, and corporate treasury roles tied to the oil and gas sector. Austin has grown significantly as a fintech and payments hub, while San Antonio hosts USAA's headquarters, creating specialized openings in insurance finance and financial planning.
What types of finance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that typically meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard in finance include financial analysts, quantitative analysts, risk managers, credit analysts, compliance officers, and investment banking associates. These positions generally require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a closely related field. Roles where a specific degree requirement cannot be established, such as some general business positions, face greater difficulty qualifying.
How do I find finance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B), industry (Banking and Financial Services), and state (Texas) to see verified sponsorship-eligible finance openings from employers with documented sponsorship histories. This removes the guesswork of applying to roles where sponsorship is unlikely, which is a common challenge for international candidates targeting Texas finance employers.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in finance?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how employers structure compensation packages but does not change federal H-1B prevailing wage obligations. Finance employers in Houston's energy sector often require specialized knowledge in energy trading or commodity risk, which can affect degree-match requirements for H-1B eligibility. Texas is also home to several large regional banks and credit unions that sponsor less frequently than national institutions, so researching an employer's LCA filing history before applying is worthwhile.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B finance jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
