Tips for Finding H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Texas
Target Texas's technology corridors first
Austin's Domain and Round Rock area, Dallas's Legacy West corridor, and Houston's Energy Corridor host hundreds of H-1B-active employers. Concentrating your search in these zones increases your odds of landing with a proven sponsoring company.
Look beyond the household names
Texas has a dense mid-market of engineering firms, healthcare systems, and energy service companies that sponsor H-1B visas consistently but attract less competition than major tech employers. These roles are worth prioritizing alongside the obvious targets.
Use DOL disclosure data to verify sponsorship history
Before applying anywhere, search the Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure data to confirm the employer has filed Labor Condition Applications in Texas. A history of LCA filings is the clearest signal that a company is genuinely H-1B-capable.
Filter your search by H-1B-sponsoring employers
Browsing job boards without sponsorship filters wastes time. On Migrate Mate, you can search specifically for Texas roles at companies with verified H-1B sponsorship history, which narrows the field to employers worth actually pursuing.
Time applications around the H-1B cap cycle
USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting cap-subject roles in Texas, plan your interviews and offers to align with this window so employers can file on your behalf in time.
Prioritize cap-exempt employers in Texas's university and hospital systems
Universities like UT Austin and Texas A&M, along with nonprofit hospital systems, are cap-exempt H-1B employers. These institutions can file petitions year-round without lottery exposure and represent a reliable sponsorship pathway in Texas.

Which industries in Texas sponsor the most H-1B visas?
Technology, healthcare, and energy account for the largest share of H-1B visa sponsorship in Texas. The Austin and Dallas metro areas are particularly concentrated with software and IT employers, while Houston leads in petroleum engineering and healthcare. Financial services and consulting firms in Dallas also contribute a significant volume of annual H-1B petitions.
Which cities in Texas have the most H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Houston consistently generate the highest volume of H-1B sponsorship activity in Texas. Austin is the dominant market for software engineering and product roles. Dallas-Fort Worth has depth across technology, finance, and telecom. Houston concentrates sponsorship in energy, engineering, and the Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical complexes in the world.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship must meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning they require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. In Texas, this includes software engineers, data scientists, petroleum engineers, registered nurses in specialty settings, financial analysts, and architects. General roles where any degree field is acceptable typically do not qualify.
How do I find H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
The most efficient approach is to search platforms that filter by verified sponsorship history. Migrate Mate lets you search H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas by industry, city, and employer, surfacing companies with confirmed filing records. Combining that with DOL LCA disclosure data to cross-reference a company's sponsorship history before you apply saves significant time and effort.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
