Which telecom companies sponsor H-1B visas in Texas?
AT&T, based in Dallas, is one of the largest H-1B visa sponsors in the state and files a significant volume of petitions for telecom engineering and IT roles. Ericsson and Nokia both maintain substantial Texas operations supporting network deployment projects. T-Mobile, Verizon, and Cisco also sponsor H-1B workers in Texas for roles spanning network architecture, software development, and systems integration.
Which cities in Texas have the most telecom H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads by a wide margin, driven by AT&T's headquarters and the regional presence of Ericsson, Nokia, and numerous telecom contractors. Houston is the second-largest hub, with activity tied to enterprise telecom, data center infrastructure, and energy sector communications. Austin has a growing share of telecom-adjacent roles, particularly in software-defined networking and cloud communications companies with Texas offices.
What types of telecom roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that typically meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard in telecom include network engineers, RF engineers, telecommunications systems analysts, software engineers working on network platforms, solutions architects, and embedded systems developers. These positions generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer science, telecommunications, or a closely related technical field. Roles where a non-specific degree satisfies the requirement may face additional scrutiny from USCIS.
How do I find telecom H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface telecom roles in Texas where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This saves time compared to applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a company does not sponsor. Migrate Mate also shows role-level details relevant to international applicants, making it easier to prioritize applications.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for telecom H-1B sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how compensation packages are structured but does not change H-1B prevailing wage obligations. Employers must still meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the specific role and geographic area, and Dallas, Houston, and Austin each have distinct wage determinations. Texas also hosts several large H-1B-dependent employers in telecom, which triggers additional attestation requirements under DOL rules for those specific companies.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B telecom jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
