Which insurance companies sponsor H-1B visas in Texas?
Several large insurers with major Texas operations have sponsored H-1B visas in past years, including USAA in San Antonio, Farmers Insurance, Chubb, Travelers, and Liberty Mutual. Regional carriers and insurance technology firms based in Houston and Dallas have also filed H-1B petitions. Sponsorship activity varies year to year, so checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data is the most reliable way to verify a specific employer's history.
Which cities in Texas have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
San Antonio leads due to USAA's headquarters, which regularly sponsors H-1B workers in actuarial, technology, and analytics roles. Dallas-Fort Worth is a close second, with a dense concentration of regional insurers, reinsurers, and insurance-adjacent financial firms. Houston rounds out the top three, driven by specialty lines in energy, marine, and commercial property insurance tied to the region's oil and gas sector.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules generally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In insurance, this includes actuaries (mathematics or actuarial science), data scientists and statisticians, underwriting analysts, risk engineers, compliance officers, and software developers building insurance platforms. General claims adjuster or customer service roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold because they do not consistently require a degree in a specific discipline.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B), industry (insurance), and state (Texas) to see verified sponsorship roles from employers with documented LCA filing histories. This removes the guesswork of contacting companies that have no track record of H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate aggregates active job listings and pairs them with employer sponsorship data, which is particularly useful in a large, fragmented market like Texas insurance.
Are there any Texas-specific or insurance-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship?
Texas is a large self-insured and captive insurance market, meaning some employers manage risk internally rather than through traditional carriers. These entities sometimes hire specialized talent but may be less experienced with H-1B filings. Additionally, the Texas Department of Insurance regulates the local market, and some compliance or licensing roles may require state-specific credentials beyond the H-1B petition itself. Candidates should confirm that a prospective employer has prior H-1B filing experience before accepting an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
