Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in Texas?
Several large Texas health systems have a documented history of H-1B visa filings, including HCA Healthcare, Baylor Scott & White Health, Houston Methodist, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Texas Children's Hospital, and Memorial Hermann. Academic medical centers affiliated with UT Health, Texas A&M, and Baylor College of Medicine also regularly sponsor H-1B workers for clinical, research, and faculty roles.
Which cities in Texas have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth account for the largest share of healthcare H-1B filings in Texas, driven by major hospital networks, medical research institutions, and large outpatient systems concentrated in both metros. San Antonio has a significant military and VA healthcare presence that generates sponsorship activity. Austin is smaller but growing quickly, with expanding hospital capacity and life sciences employers entering the market.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that require at minimum a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific field are eligible for H-1B classification as specialty occupations. In Texas healthcare, this commonly includes physicians, surgeons, clinical researchers, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical scientists, and health informatics specialists. Registered nursing roles face more complex H-1B eligibility questions because USCIS scrutinizes whether the specific position consistently requires a bachelor's degree.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate lists healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas filtered by visa type and industry, so you can search specifically for employers with a history of H-1B filings rather than applying broadly and asking later. Focus your search on the Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth metros first, where sponsoring health systems are most concentrated, and filter by clinical or research role types depending on your specialty.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Texas healthcare?
Texas does not impose additional state licensing requirements that are unique to H-1B holders, but foreign-trained physicians must still obtain Texas Medical Board licensure, which requires verification of credentials through bodies like ECFMG. Texas has no state income tax, which affects overall compensation comparisons. Some rural Texas healthcare employers participate in the Conrad 30 J-1 visa waiver program, which is a separate pathway from H-1B and worth distinguishing when evaluating job offers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
