Which accounting companies sponsor H-1B visas in Texas?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, and EY, are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors for accounting roles in Texas, with major offices in Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Large regional firms such as Grant Thornton and BDO also file H-1B petitions in the state. Corporate accounting departments at energy companies like ExxonMobil and Chevron, both headquartered in Texas, regularly sponsor H-1B workers as well.
Which cities in Texas have the most accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas in accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs, driven by a dense concentration of professional services firms, corporate headquarters, and financial institutions. Houston is the second-largest market, supported heavily by the energy sector and its accounting and audit needs. Austin has grown significantly as a hub for technology-sector accounting roles. San Antonio offers additional opportunities, particularly in financial services and healthcare accounting.
How do I find accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for H-1B accounting roles in Texas without sorting through positions that offer no sponsorship. The platform covers roles across audit, tax, financial reporting, and advisory functions with employers verified to sponsor H-1B workers in the state. Filtering by Texas city allows you to narrow results to Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, or other markets based on your preference.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Texas?
Roles that consistently qualify include staff and senior auditors, tax associates and managers, financial reporting analysts, forensic accountants, and management consultants with accounting specializations. These positions generally require at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, satisfying the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Roles that involve a mix of general administrative duties alongside accounting tasks may face more scrutiny during the petition process.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for accounting H-1B sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how compensation packages are structured and compared to offers in other states, though this does not alter federal H-1B prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor. The state's large energy sector creates demand for specialized accounting skills in oil and gas revenue recognition and joint venture accounting, making those specializations particularly relevant for H-1B candidates targeting Houston-based employers. Texas also has a high concentration of publicly traded companies, sustaining steady demand for external audit and SEC reporting professionals.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B accounting jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
