Search Medical Director Jobs in TexasMedical Director Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for medical directors in Texas?
Large integrated health systems are the most consistent sponsors. HCA Healthcare, Baylor Scott & White Health, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Houston Methodist, and Memorial Hermann have all filed H-1B petitions for physician leadership roles including medical directors. Managed care organizations operating statewide, such as Molina Healthcare and UnitedHealth Group, also sponsor these positions regularly given Texas's large Medicaid and Medicare Advantage markets.
Which visa types are most common for medical director roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for medical directors in Texas, as the role typically requires a medical degree and meets the specialty occupation standard. Physicians with board certification and an MD or DO degree have a well-established basis for H-1B approval. Those from certain countries may also qualify under treaty-based visas. Some academic medical center roles at UT Southwestern or UTHealth qualify for cap-exempt H-1B petitions.
Which cities in Texas have the most medical director sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth account for the largest share of medical director sponsorship activity in Texas. Houston's Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, houses dozens of health systems and research institutions that hire physician leaders. Dallas hosts major corporate headquarters for health insurers and hospital management companies. San Antonio and Austin are growing markets, particularly for managed care and health technology sectors.
How to find medical director visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search medical director roles in Texas without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. Because medical director roles vary significantly by setting, such as hospital, managed care, or academic, Migrate Mate's search lets you identify which Texas employers are actively hiring and have a sponsorship history for physician leadership positions.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for medical directors seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas requires physicians to hold a valid Texas Medical Board license regardless of visa status, so international candidates should factor state licensure timelines into their job search. Texas's lack of a state income tax can affect total compensation benchmarks, which matters since H-1B employers must pay the prevailing wage determined by the Department of Labor. Academic pipelines through UT Southwestern, UTHealth Houston, and Texas A&M Health also produce sponsorship pathways through fellowship-to-leadership tracks.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical director jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
