Apple is where we use the power of technology to enrich people's lives. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other's ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It's the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you'll do more than join something - you'll add something.
Join the Apple Ads Engineering team and help build an advertising platform that benefits both customers and advertisers. Our technology makes advertising possible on the App Store, Apple News, Stocks, and Apple TV - helping people discover content, supporting creators and publishers, and connecting advertisers of all sizes with engaged audiences, all with the unwavering commitment to privacy you expect from Apple. In this role, you will design, develop, and launch the highly-performant, internet-scale backend systems that select and deliver the right ads in real time, collaborating across engineering, product, and infrastructure to bring elegant solutions into production at Apple scale.
Description
You will design, develop, and operate the distributed services that make real-time ad selection possible at Apple. You will architect and build low-latency, high-availability, high-throughput ad-serving systems in a cloud environment, engineer secure and scalable data processing pipelines that operate on petabyte-scale datasets, and implement performant services that handle very high data volumes and QPS. You will work cross-functionally to ensure that optimal and correct ads are available for real-time selection, and that observability and flexibility are provided for stakeholders. While this role focuses on the candidate retrieval part of Apple Ads, we are not constrained by organization structure and offer the flexibility to contribute across a variety of backend systems, including opportunities to apply algorithmic search, machine learning, NLP, and AI to hard retrieval problems. You will write clean, efficient, well-documented code, participate in code reviews, and mentor other engineers on the team. Collaboration with internal partners across indexing, search, serving, operations, and program management to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions is essential. You should be passionate about building products that protect user privacy and thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities - and have fun doing it.
Responsibilities
-
Architect, design, and implement internet-scale, low-latency, highly-available ad-serving systems in a cloud environment.
-
Build performant micro-services and distributed data platforms that support high data volumes and QPS.

Work effectively both independently and as part of a team to deliver complete systems from design through production.
-
Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
-
Debug and resolve complex issues across large-scale distributed systems.
-
Mentor other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
-
Stay current with advances in search, retrieval, distributed systems, ML/AI, and cloud infrastructure, and contribute ideas that improve the platform.

Which companies sponsor visas for software engineers in Texas?
Several large Texas-based employers consistently file H-1B petitions for software engineers, including Dell Technologies in Round Rock, AT&T and Texas Instruments in Dallas, and HP Inc. in Houston. Austin's tech cluster also includes Apple, Google, Amazon, and Oracle, all of which have significant engineering offices in the city and active sponsorship histories with the Department of Labor.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa category for software engineers in Texas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa instead. Canadian and Mexican nationals can explore the TN visa under the software engineer category, which does not require lottery selection.
Which cities in Texas have the most software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads the state by a significant margin, driven by its dense concentration of tech company offices and startups. Dallas-Fort Worth is close behind, with strong demand from financial technology, telecommunications, and defense contractors. Houston adds opportunities through energy technology and healthcare IT sectors. San Antonio has a smaller but growing cybersecurity and defense-adjacent software engineering market.
How to find software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for software engineer roles in Texas without manually screening out employers who won't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from companies with documented sponsorship histories in the state, which is particularly useful given how many Texas job postings don't clearly disclose sponsorship status upfront.
Are there any Texas-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software engineers?
Texas has no state income tax, which makes prevailing wage calculations under the H-1B and E-3 visa programs the primary compensation benchmark employers must meet. The state's large public university system, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, produces a substantial pipeline of international students on OPT who are actively seeking sponsorship in-state. Employers in Austin and Dallas are generally familiar with the sponsorship process given how frequently they hire internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
