Which companies and school districts sponsor visas for instructional assistants in Utah?
The largest sponsors of instructional assistant roles in Utah tend to be public school districts, including Granite School District, Jordan School District, Alpine School District, and Davis School District. Higher education institutions such as the University of Utah and Brigham Young University also hire instructional support staff. Sponsorship is less common at smaller charter schools, so large public districts are the most reliable starting point.
Which visa types are most common for instructional assistant roles in Utah?
H-1B visas are the most common sponsorship pathway for instructional assistants in Utah, but only when the role requires a specialized bachelor's degree, such as positions focused on special education, bilingual instruction, or curriculum support. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying education-related occupations. Some positions at universities may also be filled through J-1 visa exchange visitor programs, depending on the role structure.
Which cities in Utah have the most instructional assistant visa sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and its surrounding suburbs, including West Valley City and Sandy, see the highest concentration of instructional assistant openings due to Granite and Jordan School Districts. Provo and Orem are strong markets because of Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University. Ogden, home to Weber State University, also generates consistent demand. These metro areas collectively account for the large majority of sponsorship-eligible instructional assistant postings in the state.
How to find instructional assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find instructional assistant roles in Utah that offer visa sponsorship. You can filter specifically by role and state to surface positions at Utah school districts and universities that have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates. Because sponsorship availability is not always disclosed in standard job postings, using a platform built around verified sponsorship data saves significant time in your search.
Are there any state-specific considerations for instructional assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Utah?
Utah requires instructional assistants in public K-12 schools to meet state paraprofessional standards, which typically include at least two years of higher education or passing a relevant assessment. International candidates pursuing H-1B sponsorship must ensure their role qualifies as a specialty occupation, which is more straightforward for positions requiring a specific degree field. Utah's growing multilingual student population has increased demand for bilingual instructional assistants, which can strengthen the specialty occupation case for eligible candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored instructional assistant jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
