Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Program Director for Research and Creative Works to provide strategic leadership and support for undergraduate research, creative works, and areas of academic distinction. This position plays an important role in expanding opportunities for students and faculty by developing and promoting programs, supporting participation in conferences, assisting with grant opportunities, and evaluating program outcomes. Working collaboratively with faculty directors, academic colleges and schools, and university partners, the Program Director helps advance engaging learning opportunities while supporting the growth and success of undergraduate research and creative activity across the university.

The Program Director will also provide training and presentations, track program participation, support faculty and students in pursuing research and creative opportunities, and help connect participants with local, state, and national conferences. This position offers an opportunity to shape and strengthen programs that support student learning, faculty engagement, and academic innovation across the university.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Oversees URCW and academic distinction program processes, correspondence, budget transfers, reports, and statistics. Reviews all ELWD grant applications and disbursements to ensure they are in line with the intended purpose of the program and meet UVU's policies and procedures and ELWD guidelines. Chairs and manages evaluation committees for grants offered through ELWD. Collaborates with schools/colleges, departments, and the Research Institute to establish procedures, policies, and resources for grant management. Identifies and assists faculty and student awardees requiring assistance from the Office of General Counsel regarding intellectual property and liability issues relating to grant awards. Supports the Scholarly and Creative Undergraduate Learning Partnership Team (SCULPT).

• Provides mentoring and assistance to faculty and students seeking internal grants overseen by ELWD. Acts as a point of contact and resource for college/school research coordinators. Maintains the database to ensure students and faculty remain on track to meet the goals of awards. Maintains an organizational structure and staffing to meet the organization's goals. Maintains program websites with troubleshooting and developing content. Coordinates with Dx to identify and utilize software platforms to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the area's programs. Support the high-impact activities of the ELWD.

• Administers and evaluates budgets of multiple soft and hard accounts for all grant programs. Coordinates with the Academic Affairs financial manager to ensure ELWD budgets are appropriate. Directs the funding and awarding of faculty and student grants and provides leadership for the development and funding of new grant opportunities. Establishes guidelines, policies, and processes for URCW grant development. Leads the tracking, reporting, and assessment of grant programs. Generates a strategic plan yearly based on analysis of data and the university's core values. Manages and distributes URSCA grant funds.

• Collaborates with the Office of Teaching and Learning to identify training needs of ELWD programs with emphasis on undergraduate research. Facilitates faculty and student training to include in-class program presentations for departments. Facilitates academic distinction programs' faculty directors' training efforts with OTL.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties OR a bachelor's degree plus four years of directly related experience and/or any combination of education and/or experience directly related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of staff-level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
