Which companies sponsor visas for software developers in Utah?
Several well-known Utah employers have a documented history of sponsoring work visas for software developers. Adobe's Lehi campus, Qualtrics, Workday, Domo, and HealthEquity appear regularly in Department of Labor H-1B visa disclosure data as sponsors. Beyond these larger firms, Utah's Silicon Slopes region hosts hundreds of funded startups that also sponsor, particularly for specialized backend, cloud, and machine learning engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for software developer roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software developers in Utah, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates already holding L-1 visas through multinational transfers also fill engineering roles at Utah offices of global companies. Australians may pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is viable for software developer positions at any sponsoring Utah employer.
Which cities in Utah have the most software developer sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and Provo-Orem account for the large majority of software developer sponsorship activity in the state. The Silicon Slopes corridor between these two cities is home to most of Utah's major tech employers and venture-backed startups. Lehi, specifically, has become a concentration point for larger tech company campuses. Ogden and St. George have smaller but growing tech presences worth monitoring.
How to find software developer visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for software developer roles in Utah without sorting through positions that don't offer immigration support. You can narrow results by location, role type, and sponsorship status. Given how quickly sponsored engineering roles fill in the Silicon Slopes market, checking Migrate Mate regularly and setting up relevant alerts improves your chances of applying early.
Are there any Utah-specific factors software developers should know about visa sponsorship here?
Utah's strong university pipeline from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University means employers are accustomed to hiring technical talent through structured programs, which can make them more familiar with sponsorship processes. The state's tech sector skews toward SaaS and enterprise software, so developers with experience in those domains are well-positioned. Prevailing wage requirements for sponsored roles are set by Department of Labor data for the Salt Lake City and Provo metropolitan areas, which reflects the local cost of living.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software developer jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
