Search Accounting Jobs in VirginiaAccounting Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
Which accounting companies sponsor Green Card visas in Virginia?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all have significant Virginia presences and documented histories of sponsoring permanent residency for accounting professionals. Large federal contractors headquartered in Northern Virginia, including Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos, also sponsor Green Cards for senior finance and audit roles. Regional public accounting firms and financial institutions in Richmond and Tysons occasionally sponsor as well, typically for specialized or hard-to-fill positions.
Which cities in Virginia have the most accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Tysons Corner, Arlington, McLean, and Reston, accounts for the largest share of accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs in the state, driven by proximity to federal agencies and a dense concentration of professional services firms. Richmond is the second most active market, with publicly traded companies and regional banks sponsoring CPAs and financial reporting specialists. Alexandria and Herndon also see regular sponsorship activity.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Virginia?
Roles that commonly attract Green Card sponsorship include senior auditors, tax managers, financial reporting analysts, forensic accountants, and controllers. Positions requiring a CPA license or a graduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field are most frequently sponsored, as they satisfy the specialty occupation standards relevant to employment-based petitions. Entry-level generalist roles are less commonly sponsored, while technical or senior positions with specialized expertise see more consistent employer investment in permanent residency.
How do I find accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international professionals seeking visa-sponsored accounting roles, including Green Card positions in Virginia. You can filter directly by state, visa type, and industry to surface employers actively sponsoring permanent residency for accounting professionals in markets like Northern Virginia and Richmond. Because sponsorship intent is not always stated in standard job postings, Migrate Mate helps narrow your search to opportunities where sponsorship is already part of the employer's hiring plan.
Are there state-specific considerations for accounting Green Card sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's heavy concentration of federal contractors introduces a specific consideration: many employers hold government contracts that require security clearances, which can complicate or delay Green Card sponsorship for foreign nationals. Employers in the Northern Virginia defense and intelligence corridor sometimes limit sponsorship to positions not tied to classified work. Outside that sector, Virginia follows standard federal employment-based Green Card processes, so CPA licensure requirements and prevailing wage determinations under PERM remain the primary professional thresholds to be aware of.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card accounting jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
