Which medical devices companies sponsor TN visas in Virginia?
Virginia hosts a mix of global medical devices manufacturers and specialty firms with a sponsorship track record. Becton Dickinson, Stryker, Philips Healthcare, and Medtronic have Virginia operations and have previously sponsored TN visa workers. Smaller contract manufacturers and regulatory consulting firms in the Northern Virginia and Richmond areas also hire Canadian and Mexican professionals, particularly for engineering, quality assurance, and clinical roles.
Which cities in Virginia have the most medical devices TN sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Herndon, McLean, and Arlington, concentrates the highest volume of medical devices TN roles due to proximity to federal health agencies and a dense network of medical technology firms. Richmond is a secondary hub with manufacturing and regulatory operations, while Roanoke and the Shenandoah Valley host medical devices production facilities that periodically hire TN-eligible professionals in engineering and quality control.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN status covers specific professional categories, so the job title and degree alignment matter considerably. Roles that commonly qualify include biomedical engineer, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, industrial engineer, quality engineer, regulatory affairs specialist, and clinical laboratory technologist. The position must require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, and the duties must align with a recognized TN occupation category as defined by USMCA.
How do I find medical devices TN sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN-eligible professionals and lets you filter medical devices jobs in Virginia by visa type, so you're only seeing roles where sponsorship is confirmed or expected. Virginia's medical devices hiring is spread across Northern Virginia, Richmond, and smaller manufacturing hubs, so using a targeted platform like Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to manually screening general job postings for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there any Virginia-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in medical devices?
Virginia's proximity to the FDA's offices in the Washington, D.C. metro area means many medical devices employers here emphasize regulatory affairs and compliance expertise, which can strengthen a TN petition if your degree aligns with those functions. Virginia also has no state-level work authorization requirements that add complexity, but employers in defense-adjacent medical technology may require security clearances that are not available to TN holders without prior authorization.
