Which companies sponsor visas for project program managers in Washington DC?
Federal contractors and consulting firms are the most active sponsors in the DC area. Companies like Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Accenture Federal Services, and Deloitte Federal have consistent hiring patterns for project and program managers and documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories. Large technology firms with DC offices, including AWS and Microsoft, also sponsor for these roles within their government-facing divisions.
Which visa types are most common for project program manager roles in Washington DC?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for project and program managers in Washington DC, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, engineering, or information systems, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may be eligible under the TN visa category.
How to find project program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find project program manager roles in Washington DC without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform surfaces openings across federal contractors, consulting firms, and technology companies operating in the DC metro area, so you can focus your search on employers already willing to sponsor.
Which areas in Washington DC have the most project program manager sponsorship jobs?
Most sponsorship-eligible project and program manager roles are concentrated in the DC metro corridor rather than within the district itself. Northern Virginia, particularly the Tysons Corner and Arlington areas, hosts a dense cluster of federal contractors and technology firms. Bethesda and Rockville in Maryland are also significant hubs, driven by government agencies and health-sector organizations including NIH-adjacent contractors.
Are there specific considerations for project program managers seeking sponsorship in Washington DC?
Security clearance requirements are a meaningful factor in this market. Many federal contractor roles require candidates to be eligible for or already hold a U.S. security clearance, which can limit sponsorship opportunities for foreign nationals on nonimmigrant visas. Focusing on commercial-sector or unclassified government-adjacent positions at large contractors tends to yield more sponsorship-eligible openings for international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project program manager jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
