Which companies sponsor visas for project program managers in Maryland?
Federal contractors and technology firms are the most active sponsors in Maryland. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, Northrop Grumman, and SAIC are among the largest employers of project and program managers in the state and have consistent records of H-1B visa sponsorship. Biotech and life sciences companies in the Rockville and Frederick areas, including companies operating near the FDA campus, also sponsor this role category.
Which visa types are most common for project program managers in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project and program managers in Maryland, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree in fields like business administration, engineering, or information systems. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying categories. Candidates already holding L-1 visa status through a multinational employer may also transfer into Maryland-based positions.
Which cities in Maryland have the most project program manager sponsorship jobs?
Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring in Montgomery County account for a large share of project and program manager sponsorship activity, driven by proximity to federal agencies and major contractors. Baltimore is another strong market, particularly in healthcare IT and logistics. The Annapolis Junction and Columbia corridors, home to defense and cybersecurity firms, also generate consistent demand for this role.
How to find project program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship, which removes the guesswork of identifying which Maryland employers will support an H-1B or other work visa. For project and program manager roles, the platform surfaces openings from federal contractors, biotech firms, and technology companies across the Baltimore-Washington metro. Setting location to Maryland and searching by this role title gives you the most relevant results.
Are there any Maryland-specific considerations for project program managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Many project and program manager roles in Maryland are tied to federal contracts, which can add complexity for visa sponsorship. Some positions require security clearances, and eligibility for clearances varies by visa status. Candidates on H-1B visas can hold clearances in some cases, but employers will assess this individually. The concentration of federal work also means the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for this role in Maryland reflect the DC metro area, which tends to be among the higher wage benchmarks nationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project program manager jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
