Who we are
In the past, to be a successful restaurateur, you simply had to have a passion for food and a passion for people - but to succeed as a digital restaurateur you also need to have a passion for technology. We believe in the joy of serving others, and that's why we created Otter – to help restaurateurs succeed in online food delivery. Restaurants around the world, both large and small, including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry’s, KFC, and Eataly trust our software to power their delivery business. We increase sales, reduce order issues, and decrease delivery headaches.
What you’ll do
The restaurant industry has zero data standardization - POS systems, delivery apps, and inventory tools all speak different languages. This causes semantic drift, impedes AI enablement, and erodes trust. The Analytics Engineering team is tackling this head-on through best-in-class data normalization and modeling, a semantic layer, and automated data quality frameworks - contributing to a world-class data ecosystem from the ground up.
As an early and key contributor to this team, you'll balance hands-on technical ownership with deep cross-functional collaboration. That means building scalable data models and pipelines while partnering with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Data Science to understand how restaurants use Otter, measure platform quality and growth, and transform raw operational data into production-ready datasets that power business decisions and AI-driven products.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and models, owning the full lifecycle from source system ingestion through canonical datasets to production-ready analytics.
- Build and optimize data models that run against both batch and real-time query engines, understanding the tradeoffs and appropriate use cases for each.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Data Science teams to understand data needs and data generation patterns, define source-of-truth datasets, and ensure data quality across the pipeline.
- Design and maintain data integrity standards, SLAs, alerting, and best-practice data validation frameworks.
- Drive the development of self-service analytics solutions and AI-powered data tools to scale data access for both internal teams and external customers.
- Contribute to the design and evolution of our semantic layer and data modeling standards across the organization.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and data-fluency.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years in the data space as an analytics engineer or data engineer, preferably in a scaling startup environment.
- Strong technical foundations with deep experience in SQL, Python, version-controlled environments, and modern data tooling, including hands-on experience with a SQL-based transformation tool (e.g., dbt, SQLMesh, or similar).
- Significant experience with a large-scale (1B+ rows) data ecosystem, with familiarity across both batch processing and real-time or OLAP query engines.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts: star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, incremental materialization strategies.
- Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to deliver data products.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical ownership.
- A "full-stack mindset", not hesitating to do what it takes to solve a problem end-to-end.
- A passion for high-quality, scalable, and highly usable technical systems.
Why join us
- Demand for online food delivery is growing really fast! In the last 5 years, just in the US, the overall market has expanded 10X from $10B to $100B, and could expand to $500bn- $1T by 2030.
- Changing the restaurant industry: You’ll be part of a team that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery.
- Collaborative environment: You will receive support and guidance from experienced colleagues and managers, helping you to learn, grow and achieve your goals, and you’ll work closely with other teams to ensure our customer’s success.

Which companies sponsor visas for analytics engineers in Washington?
Amazon and Microsoft are the largest sponsors of analytics engineer roles in Washington, with consistent H-1B filings visible in DOL disclosure data. Tableau (now part of Salesforce), Expedia, T-Mobile, and Zillow also appear regularly as sponsors. Beyond these household names, a number of mid-size SaaS and cloud infrastructure companies headquartered in the Seattle and Bellevue area actively hire and sponsor analytics talent.
Which visa types are most common for analytics engineer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for analytics engineers in Washington. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT often transition to H-1B through employer sponsorship. The O-1A is an option for those with an exceptional track record in data or engineering.
Which cities in Washington have the most analytics engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the majority of analytics engineer sponsorship activity in Washington, driven by its dense concentration of tech headquarters and cloud computing firms. Bellevue and Redmond are close behind, largely because of Microsoft's Redmond campus and the eastside tech corridor. Smaller clusters exist in Kirkland and Bothell, but if sponsorship is a requirement, the Seattle metro area is where most of the opportunities are.
How to find analytics engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters analytics engineer roles in Washington by verified visa sponsorship willingness, saving you from manually researching each employer. Beyond the job board, reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data can confirm which Washington employers have recently sponsored similar roles. Targeting companies with a documented history of H-1B filings in data and engineering significantly improves your chances of a productive application.
Are there state-specific considerations for analytics engineers pursuing sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since take-home pay differs from states with income tax, though DOL prevailing wages are set at the federal level regardless. The University of Washington produces a steady pipeline of analytics and data engineering graduates, meaning employer familiarity with visa sponsorship for international candidates is relatively high. Washington's tech sector density also means many employers have established immigration counsel and streamlined sponsorship processes compared to less tech-concentrated states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored analytics engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
