<p>The Senior Laboratory Engineer performs a diverse number of engineering tasks in support of Cadwell’s industry-leading neuro-diagnostics equipment. They drive the continuous maintenance and improvement of active and released products, support design engineering with research and development activities in the pursuit of new products, and oversee aspects of the transfer of new designs to manufacturing.</p>
<p><strong>Job Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Analyzes field returns and conducts root-cause analysis to understand possible design opportunities. Oversees and drives design changes to continuously improve the reliability and safety of products.</li>
<li>Addresses part obsolescence by identifying alternate replacements and developing a suitable test methodology. Performs engineering verifications tests to ensure that components meet quality and performance standards. Releases component updates as needed under appropriate engineering change processes while partnering with affected departments and suppliers.</li>
<li>Collaborates with Service and Operations departments to continuously improve test and manufacturing fixtures for robustness and throughput.</li>
<li>Participates in and collaborates on design reviews for new product designs as well as enhancements to existing products. Provides feedback to design engineers to facilitate and encourage reliable, manufacturable product design practices.</li>
<li>Plans, performs, and documents verification testing of new product designs to ensure design quality of Cadwell products. </li>
<li>Plans, performs, and documents first article inspections on initial production runs of materials from Cadwell’s many sub-contractors and vendors. Provides feedback to and collaborates with the vendor on technical aspects of needed improvements; applies knowledge of manufacturing processes and workmanship standards to l issues identified.</li>
<li>Plans and oversees<strong> </strong>the development of test requirements<strong> </strong>and deployment of necessary tools, fixtures, test software, and equipment to production environments. Collaborates with<strong> </strong>Operations and Service teams, as well as external vendors to ensure effective training and transfer. </li>
<li>Facilitates technical aspects of design transfer to external vendors for newly developed products; ensures smooth transfer to external production environments by clarifying design requirements and ensuring design intent is met. </li>
<li>Collaborates as needed with other Cadwell engineers, production staff, and service personnel to share engineering insight into troubleshooting, analysis, and engineering best practices.</li>

<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong> <strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Thorough knowledge of schematics, datasheets, and troubleshooting down to the component level within printed circuit assemblies.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting in multi-component electro-mechanical assemblies; problem-solving in larger systems. </li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of common engineering design best practices.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of engineering change control processes fundamentals.</li>
<li>Working knowledge using Altium Designer or similar PCB design software including areas of both schematic capture <em>and</em> PCB layout.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of mechanical CAD tools, such as Solidworks, AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of the processes, standards, and equipment used in the manufacture of electronic products; understands basic limitations and best practices for both printed circuit assemblies and bare fabrications. Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics design fundamentals. Working knowledge of relevant medical device safety standards; able to perform electrical and mechanical safety tests as needed. Working knowledge of applicable EMC standards; able to participate in EMC tests with limited training and guidance.</li>

<li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent worked experience.</li>
<li>Typically has greater than five (5) years of relevant professional or technical engineering experience with three (3) years or more experience in the electronics design or manufacturing fields.</li>
<li>Preferred experience working in a regulated environment, ideally in a medical or similar safety and/or reliability focused industry.</li>
